Record TV Sound on pc? Please any info..

Is there such thing as a convertor or a wire that runs from the audio jack from my tv to the line in on my pc (like one of those red, white or black wires that are for dvd players, ps2, etc), so I can record sound of the tv? I would appreciate ANY help.

you can get a cable that will take the R and L audio RCA that Ys down to a 3mm headphones jack. put the cable on the "audio out" part of the tv and plug the headphones portion into the line in port on your sound card. you may have to change the record device to "line in" but it should work.

Can a tv tuner card do this? Im rather confused. I saw a picture of them, and it only has a svideo input on them, and they have a regular cable line connector on them. The thing is, I use a digital cable box, how would that work. Primarly I just want to record sound, but a tuner card is only 35 bucks. I just want to know if it will record tv even tho, its using a digital cable box (time warner digital, I use a digital guide and everything). Would I have to take the cable line out of the digital cable box and plug it into the tuner? Then I wouldnt get all my channels tho. Sorry so many questions, Im just new to this. And what about PS2/XBOX recording? Is that possible? even with sound? It just dosent seem like theres enough connectors on the tuner card to record sound and video. Because my ps2 and xbox use three wires that plug into my tv. I know u need at least two plugged into the back of the tv, (from the ps2/xbox) for video and sound to play on the tv.

I donno what tv tuner you are looking at...TV Tuners Usually have a Coax in(Hook your cable tv up to it) a video in(RCA) you can hook anything with video out up to it, and a 3mm plug in. this is where you get your audio from the coax in(cable tv). The card Usually comes with an adaptor -

This can only Output it to a stero receiver. But if you hook the coax up to vcr out, you should get sound. Then you can hook the 3mm plug up to line in on your sound card. Then just get a sound recoder that will record sound from line in. What you're doing, you dont need all this unless you are doing video to. All you need is the adaptor.

Just hook that up to red/white rca cables that you want audio from and plug it in to line in on your soundcard

Would this work?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=14966

-----------

I want to just go ahead and get the tuner card. But im skeptical if it would work or not, since my cable line is tied up in my digital cable box. I couldnt take the cable out of the digital box and put it into the tuner, then I would loose my digital channels, ect. And it would only show the main like 60 channels. Thats why I was wondering, if it could get a full video/audio signal from the tv by using the RCA cables or whatever they are (ugh this is so confusing) from the back of the tv to the pc. once again, I dont see how it would transfer video and audio without having the actual cable line in the tuner card. (Which I cant, because it is in my digital cable box). Oh well. I just guess I can only record audio.

Oh, and I use my ps2 and xbox for dvd's. (havent had a vcr in many years :-p)

Oh, here was the tuner I WAS looking at. see what I mean. Only one of those rca or svideo connectors. need at least two to transfer video and audio (since I cant use my main cable line, as its in my cable box)

It has an video in(RCA - hook up your tv out to it) It also has 3mm plug. Use the adaptor to hook your red/white rca cables up to your line in. You will now have audio and video. Or you can hook the box up to the tuner through the coax in and get all the channels on your computer.
