HI! I don't know where to post this but since I need help in this area may be you can help me out here...
I have a DVD which I was able to copy to my hard drive in .VOB format. Problem is when I run it in Windows Media Player 9 it will not run saying it does not have the required codec to play it. Worse, when I try to convert the file from .vob to mpeg, the file was corrupted and I couldn't run it.
My questions:
1> How do I convert a vob file into mpeg or mpeg-4?
2> Where do I get the codec for the vob file?
My specs:
CPU - AThlon XP 1600+
Mobo - EPOX KHa8+ 266 DDR
Video - GeForce Titanium 4400 128DDR
HD - 2 40GB SEagate 7200 rpm
DVD - liteon 16x48x
CDRW - Liteon 40x12x48x
Soundcard - Creative Live 5.1
The short answer is you need a software DVD player to play DVDs on your computer, ie, PowerDVD, WinDVD, or a plugin for WMP (MS has then listed for sale on thier site).

I have PowerDVD for my software DVD. I want to know if I can convert my vob to avi or mpeg 4 or any format that can be read by Windows media player 9. I don't think my Power DVD software includes conversion of vob to other formats.
