vid card problem or monitor problem?

hello

i have a geforce4 ti4200... and when i play counterstrike i get only 60 frames...

is it because my monitor cant refresh fast enough? or is it because my video card isnt capable of 100fps on CS?

thanks

eryk

This one is easy - you have what's called Vertical Sync, or VSync enabled in the driver options control panel. Disabling it will allow you to go over 60fps (which is the refresh rate Window uses in games), but you will notice a lot of "tearing" and it won't look as smooth than if you left it on.

Try it and see!

Nope, VSync is VSync regardless of card, driver, or monitor. I seem to have issues with a few games and my nVidia card not enabling VSync even if I force it through other apps.

personally I wouldn't worry about it 60fps is plenty, I would worry though if I was getting low fps in more graphical heavy games
