Pentium 4 Overclocking

Anyone who can assist...

I submitted a thread a while back where I managed to get the P4 2.4 to 2.7 and stable, but things have moved on!!

I'm now at 3gig with a new board ( Abit IS7 ) and still stable, but would like advice on settings:-
FSB 167 and DRam ratio at 1:1 ( using DDR400 ), have tried 4:5 (wouldn't boot ) and 3:2 which was ok for a bit ( on 3.06 plus ) but not stable.AGP and PCI fixed (66/33). Memory timings 2.5/7/4/4 and core voltage at 1.7.
However I have an option called 'N/B Strap CPU as' which can be PSB400/533/667/800, I'm not sure what it means and its currently set at PSB800.
Can anyone advise, would like to push CPU further but at 3.06 it becomes unstable. I think memory is good and temp is as 50-53 centigrade with water cooling. Have read that the CPU (2.4B) can nudge 3.1gig with stock cooling.
Have successfully benchmarked the system with Sandra. The PSU is 300watt, and strangely enough my monitor screen now flickers a shade of blue......!

From [H]:

(Also check your Abit manual, they are pretty good at explaining things)

The N/B Strap CPU As and DRAM Ratio (CPURAM) options are used in conjunction with one another to determine the memory speed based on the CPU FSB selected through the Ext. Clock (CPU/AGP/PCI) option. In practice, it has been found that the N/B Strap CPU As option only takes effect when the setting selected is equal to or below the current CPU FSB. If the N/B Strap CPU As option is set to a higher setting than the current CPU FSB, the setting is ignored by the system, and the RAM will run as determined by the SPD settings. The following charts goes through the divider options available through the DRAM Ratio option with each of the various N/B Strap CPU As options selected.

N/B Strap CPU As DRAM Ratio (CPURAM)
By CPU 1:1 (533, 800 MHz CPUs)
3:2 (800 MHz CPU)
3:4 (400 MHz CPU)
4:5 (533 MHz CPU)
5:4 (800 MHz CPU)
By SPD (DDR speed determined by internal memory circuitry)
PSB400 3:4
By SPD (DDR speed determined by internal memory circuitry)
PSB533 1:1
4:5
By SPD (DDR speed determined by internal memory circuitry)
PSB667 1:1
5:4
By SPD (DDR speed determined by internal memory circuitry)
PSB800 1:1
3:2
5:4
By SPD (DDR speed determined by internal memory circuitry)

Have you got a P4 b or c?
Additional voltage to cpu and mem may assist in stabilizing your OC

----> OOOPS I see you have a b---try the 3/4 400 (just for kicks) and the 4/5 533 and run Sandra memory bench and check the results between the 2...

Cheers,
Managed 173fsb giving about 3.1gig still with temp about 55cent and no stability problems. Used PSB667 with FSB/Dram timings at 1:1. Ran 3DMark/Sandra with no problems.
Won't go to 174fsb though even with voltage cranked right up to 1.9, something getting in the way!
Let us know if anyone got any higher
