hard drive problem

Here goes.

I built a system a few days ago a KT6V-LSR motherboard. I got an Maxtor 120GB SATA hard drive. I loaded the RAID drivers for the SATA hard drive from the floppy disk, loaded xp and loaded some games and stuff which worked just fine. The comptuer was for my sister. And now on trying to troubleshoot it, I try to reload xp and load the raid driver and windows xp setup gets stuck at "Examining 117246MB on Drive 0 ID 0 BUS 0...." and when I try to let it load windows to see if it would go into windows, right when it tries to get into windows the pc reboots itself. I've tried different SATA cables, switching SATA ports on the motherboard, switching power connectors on the hard drive, resetting the CMOS on the motherboard by resetting the jumper. The computer sees the drive when I switched to both ports on the motherboard but just seems like it can't do anything with the drive.

Can anyone help me out and help me what's wrong with it?

is the drive jumperd correctly...if you didn't change it since it was working it should be unless it is on CSL and you moved the cables around....does your bios recognize the drive either

This is a Serial ATA hard drive, not an EIDE hard drive. So it woudlnt be seen by the bios. Only thing in the bios is the CD-ROM set to primary master The Serial ATA is the OS for the system. Which it worked for in this computer for a few days. Loaded the OS fine, the games fine. Now this problem. Im not sure if its something my sister did or if the drive is bad.

I press tab to load into the VIA SATA BIOS menu but I can't navigae in it, only thing i can do is press ESC key to leave it.

As before the comptuer can see the drive on the SATA 1 channel and if I swtich it over to the SATA 2 channel it can see the drive there as well. It just seems like it can't do anything with it.

Did you ever get this fixed? I have exactly the same problem.

I have a maxtor ATA drive, which i install the drivers for and then windows XP hangs on installation, claiming to be examining the disk

Gah.

well I sent it back to newegg and they sent me a replacement, and that drive didn't work when I got it. Basically it was making clunky sounds. So I just got a regular EIDE HD and it works fine.
