Systems broken battery holder

i was replacing the battery for bios and i broke the battery holder. is there any way to secure the battery permanantly. i put some electrical tape on it temporarily. but when i booted up it still said low battery and to press f1 to setup (i think it said) or f2 to load default values.

its working. im using it now. but i dont want to damage beyond repair.

any help would be great. thanks

you could solder it back on...go down to radio shack and pick up some solder and a soldering iron if you dont have one

I'd personally be very concerned about the heat from the soldering iron damaging your MB.

if it broke off where I pictured it at the top of the socket it shouldnt be a problem but if it is at the bottom that could be a problem...but if your VERY careful not to touch any thing else not even the bus lines it shouldnt be a problem...the pc board is built to take the heat though most of the things are solderd to it at the factory anyways

broken battery holder

im sorry i didnt clarify. the black thing that snaps over the battery to hold it in place is what broke. theres 2 and a little metal snap. i broke 1 of the black snaps. so the battery doesnt make a connection.

like i said before i just put some tape over it to make the connection. it works ..but i wanted a better way to hold it in place.

thanks for the replies
