Difference between Windows Xp

What is the difference between the OEM version of XP that walmart sales and the regular full version of XP. I am looking into bulding a computer and putting XP home on it.

Welcome to TechIMO

ALL OEM versions:

"This OEM version only allows the customer to install the full version (as if there is no operating system on the computer), it doesn't allow the customer to install as an upgrade version.

Printed owners manual and free tech support from Microsoft is not included."

Regular retail versions give you a manual and MS support.

I doubt that Wal-mart is selling an OEM version by itself. An OEM version is only licensed to be sold with a computer. Stand alone versions sold at Wal-mart likely come in "full version" or "upgrade" versions. In earlier versions of Windows the upgrade version could be used either as an upgrade or as a full version. I don't know if this is still the case with XP or not. I don't use XP.
