Scheduling & NT Backup
We've started doing backups here at work and for the time being we're using NT 4.0's Backup. Now I know there's a way to schedule this to run at a certain time each day...but I'll be damned if I find where to do this.
Could someone be so kind as to point me in the right direction? Thanks...

Do you need to use the AT command from a DOS prompt?

I just need NT Backup to run at a scheduled time, backup a few specific folders...and also needs to run only mon-fri.

Your company just started to do backup? If this is a server, you were taking a risk up to now.
I believe the backup application has a wizard, doesn't it?

I'm no expert, but to my knowledge, the AT command is the only means to run scheduled jobs in NT. WIN2K and later have the 'Scheduled Tasks' function, but NT does not.
A MS book I have (Windows NT 4.0 Server Admin Pocket Consultant) says in part, "You automate backups by placing commands to the backup utility in batch files and then executing those files. ....you set up an AT command to run the batch files containing the backup commands. For example:
AT \\server 00:05 /every:Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday "backup.bat"
Will run a backup every M-Th." I have paraphrased for brevity.)
There is also a utility out there called WINAT that puts a GUI face on the AT command.

Since this is a corporate environment, you really should upgrade to 2000 or 2003 Server because NT is no longer supported by MS.
I'm almost positive the backup utility in Win 2000 has a scheduler built in.

In both WIN2K and WIN2K3 the Backup utility has a scheduler included. When a backup is configured, it appears as a "Scheduled Task" within that utility.
A cheap, external tape drive and software is another option.

Ya I know we *should* upgrade to 2k or even 2k3...but that's not up to me. lol.
As far as the backup itself goes...we're using an external HP SureStore Dat24x6.
I got a copy of WinAT and currently reading over the help trying to familarize myself with it...
