Google becoming useless?

Has anyone else noticed that Google isn't as useful as it used to be? A search in Google now produces dozens of hits that only take you to other search engine pages. I was trying a search on "Microsoft Publisher viewer" and 90+% of the hits were useless links to other search pages. Waste of time. Although I can't put all the blame on Google. The web designers for these other search pages have figured out a way to get Google to point to their sites for just about any search term. Another useful tool ruined by unscrupulous webmasters.

ya I've noticed that myself

Its either other search sites, or commercial sites that sell everything in the book

REALLY lame
Think Google should de-list any site that Googlebombs

Yeah I noticed this too. I have learned how to spot them though. Usually your search criteria will be directly in the URL of the page (in green) so I just look over those sites.

Yep, noticed that too...many different names for the search sites, but they all point to the same dang place!

Seems like you have to scroll through numerous pages before you get any useful info.

I have noticed this too, but I dont think its Googles fault. This search engine has been one of my best friend in the web and I think someone is doing this to Google itself, and I agree its annoying. But it could be Googles fault but I dont know the reason why this started so I really cant say anything in regard to this.

I think he who pays the most $ gets the first hits on that key word or phrase. Other searche engines have done that. So its no surprise that the first ones are book sites or somthing being sold. No freebies till search page 10 LOL!

yeah, I've noticed that a few times, but Google is still by far the biggest lifesaver I know. Plus, I love the google toolbar (goodbye to pop ups)
