RH up2date kernel upgrade?

I have a webserver up with redhat, I admin'd a redhat server 4 years ago (rh 6 maybe?) so i did all the upgrades myself. But this up2date think looks nice.

My question is how well does it do kernel updates? I've never compiled a kernel (other admins always did it) and up2date says i should update to kernel-2.4.20-28.9 .

What are your experiances with up2date and kernel updating?

I did it once, well not me, a coworker did on accident, and nothing broke. So take that as you may I didn't like the idea a whole lot but it seemed to work fine.

When I had Redhat I didn't have any problems upgrading the kernel through up2date.

The same goes here I was a Red Hat user until version 9 and never had problems updating the kernel using up2date.

I never had a problems with it either and I've upgraded my kernel with up2date more times than I care to admit.

bfcx, will you continue with the 2.4 series or move to 2.6? I'm asking this because I think that the only way to move to 2.6 is by compiling the kernel yourself, I may be wrong but I don't think that up2date lets you upgrade to 2.6.

i'm planing on sticking with 2.4, no reason to goto 2.6 yet, I'll try the upgrade, can always reload the server hehe, only have 1 site on it right now so it wont be too bad.
