Video Overheating Issue?

First off, I have a XFX 5900 128Mb video card, Expox 8RDA3+ motherboard, and an Athlon 2500+ Barton @ 3200+.

Ok, whenever I play BF1942, my whole system freezes. Before when I was overclocking the video card, it would freeze very early into the game [1-5 mins], but normally only once every time I play. So I put the settings back to defualt assuming it would alleviate the problem, but now it still does it, it just takes longer to freeze[20-30 mins]. When I say freeze I mean it just stops at a frame. Sound-wise, if there are guns going off they will still keep going off in a repeating tone. Keyboard wont work when it freezes either. When it freezes it does so for about 5-10 seconds. Then when it gets un-frozen, it makes a weird sound in the headphones. Tough to describe, but it does kind of sound like a machine gun, but not. After it has done that it plays flawlessly.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Any suggestions would be valued.

Update any and all drivers. Update the game as well. Doesnt sound like a heat issue, but to check, you can take off your side panel and have a box fan run over the components.

EDIT: It could be your proc, not the vid card. Put it back down to stock and see what happens.
