AGP 8x and 4x

My motherboard supports AGp 4x, and i know all the cards out now are 8x. However seeing as im not too sure what that really means, I dont really know how my slower mobo will effect it. Would i have a noticible performance hit or slowdown? Im thinking about getting a 9800 pro.

You won't have a huge change from 4 to 8x. In fact its barely, if at all noticeable. However if your system is too slow(cpu, etc) you won't see the 9800 in its full potential.

8x is almost nothing, if you have it, then use it, but 4x can be almost the same as 8x (maybe with OCing) only a few percent difference

I have a 9800 Pro and a 3200+ on an NForce2 board. From 4x AGP to 8X agp, I noticed a 50 point increase in 3dmark2003 wich could even be just standard test variation.

No noticable difference and 99% of AGP 8x card work in AGP 4x.

Thats good, because i dont intend on getting a newer mobo...yet. I have a 1.4 ghz athlon, would this cpu hold back the radeon 9800 pro?

You would get better results running a faster cpu, .etc....though it still should do you well.
