Laptop will only boot with AC Adapter

Hi all,

Does anyone have this problem?
Laptop does not boot up unless there it is plugged into AC adaptor source. When unplugged from the AC Adaptor and trying to turn the laptop on with a fully charged battery, it will not boot - in fact, it will not even turn on at all. Pressing the power button does nothing. It is as if I don't even have a battery installed.

Since its a Dell, the battery has a button on the bottom that detects the charge, and all 4 indicators are green (meaning its at 100%) when pressed.

Booting up (with the AC Adapter) to Windows allows me to look at the battery life, which says it is at 100%.

I've ran the Dell Diagnostic but it doesn't detect any problems.

Anyone can advise?

Thanks

Is your dell still under warranty? To me, I think its a hardware problem.
Did you try to clean the contacts on the battery to make sure it fully is touching the contacts on the laptop?
What if you were to turn on the laptop with the AC adapter plugged in, and then unplug it..Does the battery activate then?
Thanks

the times that i've seen this problem on the boards, it turned out to the battery. unfortunately, i guess you don't have another laptop to test that battery on, do you?

Another member pointed this out to me. I don't know if it works, I have never tried it, but it might be worth it to you.

On the left menu is a tool for testing your battery, "Online Tester". Give that a try.
