Yep. It should run at about 1995MHz.

Duh. My bad, I was thinking the 2500 actually ran at 2500MHz.

To answer your question, it will work on a 266FSB fine, but as you described, "underclocked" at a slower speed.

EDIT - It should run at 1463MHz (5.5x266) instead of 1833MHz (5.5x333).

So what should i buy...

2400 XP (256 cache) @ 266
or
2500 Batron XP (512) @ 333

on my 266 FSB max MOBO

I need it for gaming, so i need most cache possible, but still at a nice speed

The larger cache is probably negligible at the same clock speed. You wouldn't notice a difference except on a benchmark. Go with the XP 2400+.

Well how bout u get a new mobo and CPU. I think it would be pointless to downclock it to 266. Just my opinion....anybody else...I would think it would be better to go with the 2400

i don't really think cache comes into play with gaming .

the difference between the 2 is marginal to be honest . you can also get a 2600 at 266fsb . but if your not gonna upgrade the mobo just get what it is capable of handling .
