Bell sympatico speed issues.

ok i am using bell sympatico high speed internet (dsl), and i do alot of gaming. My rents will not upgrade to cable and resovle this problem, but thats what these forums are for right .

Anyways... my isp garantees i think somewhere around 1400 kb download and 360kb upload.

I ran a test on www.dslreports.com to find my "real" down and up. Come to figure its 760 download and 156 upload.

I am not sure how to get mine up to 1400/360 but im wondering if it has something to do with my phone line? Maybe the way its set up? Or something with software?

I have been trying to fix this problem for a long time... but now i put all my faith in you guys.

Specs:

-Winxp sp1 pro
-AMD athlon xp 2500
-512 ddr ram
-radeon 9600 xt
-soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra mobo

Thanks for the help

Bell is implementing a speed upgrade currently, so you could be experiencing adverse effects due to their upgrades. Just hold on and wait it out. By the end of march, all regular high speed customers will have a 3 meg line, as opposed to the current 1.5 meg connection.

What area code do you live in? Currently 613, 705 and another area code are having their speeds increased as a test beds for the implementation across the network.

Similar situation here. I went to www.toast.net/performance/ to test my speed and it was 494 kbps I was disgusted to say the least. Of course they will tell you that there's something wrong with your computer
They walked me through all the possibilities for configuration errors and all that. Go figure it was my phone line. I tested it after they called me to say that they had fixed it and now I have speeds that blow away T1. Fortunately I have wire care on my bundle from Bell and it didn't cost me a penny. Tell Bell to test your phone lines, it's worth a shot.
