upgrade Laptop

I have a 10 year old Dell lap top.
Microprocessor 80486sx
mem 8 MB
video type VGA
mouse Integrated
serial ports 1
Parallel ports 1
Disk drive A 1.4
Ms Dos 6.2
windows 95

Is it possible for me to do an upgrade on the whole lap top?
If yes how do i go about it?

nope...afraid not. processor upgrades are very limited for laptops to begin w/because of their proprietary design and none exists for that old a processor.

By "whole" do you mean CPU, RAM, HDD, OS? If so, then No.

The only upgrading you can do is to buy a new one.

You can "upgrade" to a ~500mhx PIII, ~128mb ram, 10gig HD, etc for about $350-$400 or so.

I think Aaron_J is saying you could buy a new/used one for that much. There's no way you can upgrade the 486 you have now.

Look at CompGeeks I've had a couple of people by PIII's from them and they've been real good.

A new laptop.

What I meant was that if you look you could find something like a Dell with the specs I mentioned for that price.

I'm not looking to buy a new or use one. I was just just trying to find out if it was upgradable. I guess its not, but thanks anyway

Well, for anyone else who reads this thread I'll post this info.

The following notebooks were sold for less than $400 including shipping on EBAY:

Dell 750mhz Pentium3
IBM 750mhz Pentium3
Gateway 700mhz Pentium3
Dell 900mhz Celeron

These were not hard to find. There were literally hundreds selling for these prices.
