Win. XP boot problem

I'm running xp home & it's now booting with a "welcome screen".
I dont know how this happened unless an upgrade did it....?

Anyone know how to totally get rid of this so it will boot right into the regular icon or desktop without that other stuff? !

tnx,

snoopaul

what other stuff are you talking about...is it like when you click your icon and it either logs you in or brings up a password box?

XP used to boot up right to the regular desktop (Icons etc) Now it comes up with a "welcome screen" and u have to click on the name so it will continue booting up. Its no big deal but just a waste of time!

tnx,

If you are the default user (admin) then go to
user accounts. There you can change a lot...

This happens after you install the .NET framework update. Go to the control panel and use the user admin tool to delete the ASP.NET account that was created. The welcome screen only appears when you have more than one account on the machine (the guest account does not count as it is disabled). After removing the account, everything should boot normally. Please let me know how it works.

This is indeed from the .NET framework optional installation from Windows Update. I have detailed instructions on how to disable the welcome screen at
http://tastycomputers.com/support/faq/noxplogon.htm

Hope this helps,
Russell
