I Need Help Deciding for my new rig.

Ok, I've been running AMD for the past three years. NOw I have a Barton 2800. I'm trying to decide between three proc's now. I'll be buying them next week. Those three are:
AMD 64FX
AMD 64 3400+
Intel 3.4ghzP4

the last two are about the same price. I saw a review online that benchmarked the first two with the p4 3.2EE(way to pricey) and the amd64 3400+ came out on top. I just can't decide.
Please no brand bashing. I just want to know what YOu would pick and why.

Thanks

why do you feel the need to upgrade?
I'd venture to guess notmuch really pushes a 2800 right now

Unless its just bragging rights which end up draining a pocket book and get you nowhere *shrug*

IMO stay put on 2800 and get something better later when you actually need it.

I feel the need to upgrade because I have the money to burn and want to have fun with it. Other than that, I suppose there's no real reason to upgrade.

No need to get defensive eRaDicaTor
Were it me, I'd go for the amd64 3400+...there are few 64bit apps out now, but they are coming....that would put you ahead of the game IMO, not to mention that if (and that is a very big IF at this point) amd's next line of processor uses the same pin style as the amd64's, you'll have a much easier time upgrading your CPU in the future as you shouldn't require a new motherboard to use it.

You are a class act eRaDicaTor. You asked for opinions and Vass gave you a highly relevant one.

He's right. There really isn't anything you could be doing with your 2800 that one of those other processors could do much better.

Maybe you could have answered his question instead of copping an attitude.

In the meantime I agree with Vass too.

Hmm...I pick the Barton 2800!

vass is correct, IMHO.

Is there something else you can upgrade?

I also agree with vass , just OC that 2800, if it's a Barton core it should OC pretty good. But upgrading to one of those highend proc at this time just isn't worth it IMHO.
