Dell privacy

I ordered a Dell laptop a few days ago and received a follow up survey email this morning. That's all fine and good except they just happened to carbon copy it to a group of other customers too. As far as I can tell, it was sent to every other customer who's email addrees starts with the letter "d" that ordered around the same time.

This obviously isn't the end of the world but I take online privacy very seriously. I would think a company known for it's "Award winning service and support" would take privacy seriously too. I have yet to get a reply from them to my inquiries about this practice.

This was my first purchase from Dell and will probably be my last. It's disappointing to say the least

If anybody from Dell happens to read this, I think your company owes a few people an apology.

Unfortunately Dell is trying to get the most money it can for its 'puters. These days that means sharing their customers' information.

The survey BTW isnt by Dell its by the other company you speak of Dell mearly provides them with your Email to ask if you are satisfied with the transaction.

If you werent(arent?) let Dell know. Dont try to Email them, Call them on the phone get in touch with a SALES PERSON(NOT customer support!!-youll be there for ever!!) and tell him what you think of their policy.

That's the thing though. They didn't give my address to a 3rd party survey company. They gave it to a bunch of other Dell customers using CC instead of BCC. The same way that everyone's annoying aunt forwards jokes. The email I recieved is from a dell rep. It was sent through Dell's mail server in Austin. I recieved another copy of the same mail today from a different rep. This time it was addressed correctly but did not mention the earlier mistake except for the added line at the bottom that states:

(DELL Inc. does not sell or share its email lists with any other entities)
