Security options under W2k

I was looking through the security option setting for W2k, and one of them was to has the Crtl+Alt.+Del turned on or off. In this case it was undefined. I have two questions.

1. Since I did not make any changes to the system when I installed it, why is it undefined?

2. Is there any reason one way or another to enable this option?

it is left as undefined because generally you WANT users to have to hit ctrl-alt-del for login.

the reason being, the ctrl-alt-key is the common key-trap which triggers the windows logon/security boxes. this adds a measure of safety because it makes it very difficult for a cracker to program a 'fake' login screen to capture login names & passwords.

Many security options are undefined by default. That's because many of those options will affect other things when enabled or disabled, so having them undefined eliminates dependency issues.

Many folks who run public computer labs turn that off so visitors can't lock the machines and leave.

the setting the bdj is referring does not have any relation to the ability of a user to manually lock the console...

You're right. I was thinking of something else, I guess. Mea culpa.
