Kids 2 drives, 2 cables and a hard drive!

Hi,

i have a dvd drive and a cd-rw and i have 2 cables, from what ive read in the mannual i am supposed to put hdd and one cd drive on one cablle which has to connectors. But i also have another cable for the floppy drive which has two connectors again but i don't know if i can put the hdd on that cable and have the two cd drives on the other cable so everything is linkined up!

Can i do this or will it not work?

You should have 2 places to plug in your hard drive and CD's. On your motheboard.
These plugs are larger than where your floppy plugs in. Your Floppy cable will not work on a cd.

Plug your hard drive into the spot marked IDE 0 or IDE 1 (depending on your board how it's marked) Then put your CD and DVD on another cable and plug it into IDE 1 or IDE 2 (depending on your board how it's marked).

Make sure you set one of the CD players as master and one as slave. There is a place on the back to do that next to where your cable plugs in.
Check what your book recomends,. When you hook them up, make sure the master is at the end of the cable and the slave in the middle part.. good luck!

HDDs, CDs and DVDs are IDE devices. They will not fit or work on the FDD cable.

You will need another IDE cable to accomplish your setup. I suggest putting the HDD and DVD on the first IDE channel as Master and Slave, respectively. The CD-RW then goes on the second IDE channel as a "single".

BTW ~ For best communications, I suggest you speak and write English here. It saves confusion in translating from slop.

Linkin; My suggestion is to put the hard drive by itself on the primary IDE controller and both CD drives on the cable plugged into your secondary controller. You may need another IDE cable but they're pretty cheap.

I'm not, but where I'm from, English teachers are not the only ones who can communicate clearly.

Roy is right, he was just a hare blatant in his response. Neither of you should be p*ssed at each other. Just good note for future reference.

BTW linkin, I've seen faaaaaaaaar worse. Especially when you start dealing w/ newsgroups. Other Tech forums are often full of slobs also. Were pretty civilized here, so forigive the ultimate members who have come to expect it.
