Win XP Turn off

Anyone had this problem?

When I want to turn off my computer by using Start, Turn off computer and turn off, my monitor turns off, but my computer fan stays on, even if I try to push the on off switch of the computer, it stays on anyway, I have to turn it off by pulling out the plug.

I did not have that problem with win98.

I have a Pentium II 400 Mgz, with 256 Mg of Ram.

Thank you
Germain

Try holding the power button for at least 4 seconds...well, just hold it until your system shuts off...it should shut off if you hold it in long enough.

What startup apps do you have loading with XP? Start--run--msconfig, click "startup" tab, check out the list.

There is a long list of programs in the Staruo tab, which one should I look for.

(Holding the power button for at least 4 seconds did the job, but I would like the computer to turn off completely with Start Turn off computer)

Thanks

OK, I have to leave for now, but i'll send you the list later on. In the mean while, I have another thread under Germain, I would like to know how to fix another problem.

It takes about 15 seconds before I get the properties when I click on a file in the explorer and ask for Properties. Do you have any idea what it might be.

Thanks

Just a suggestion If the list is way to long to type, post a screen shot of the list. Hit the printscrn key and paste it into microsoft paint or a photo editor
