Accidently deleted partitions

Blahhh, I accidently deleted the partitions on my hard disk while working with it. I formatted and reinstalled XP on it. While rebooting after setup copied its files, I got a read error and a message saying hit ctrl+alt+del to restart while the computer just hangs there. I don't know what if this means if my drive is going but I suspect it is.

Is there a way to get the data on the drive back? I got a good amount of stuff on there I'd like to get back. I haven't copied any files onto it since this happened.

Thanks

You deleted the partitions & reformated & re-installed AND now you want to try and save the original files?

If you had stopped after deleting the partitons->maybe...

I have 2 partitions. C and D. I deleted C, repartitioned and reformatted C, got the read error and lock up, and then deleted D and C and have done nothing since then.

Thanks

I've ordered and received a new hard drive recently. It turns out that my old drive did die. SMART returned an error. I was lucky enough to pull my files off of it using GetDataBack.
