Can't stop making Coasters

A friend of mine is using a I/O DVD burner with DVDShrink and DVD Clone (elby). It was working fine a few days ago and now it keeps making coasters (he's up to 4 now).

Anyhow he hasn't changed anything and hasn't added any new software. He was using DVDShrink to compress the DVD and then Clone to burn it.

I thought there might be something wrong with DVD Clone so I had him install the newest version of DVDShrink 3.1 so he wouldn't have to use Clone but that made a coaster too.

Here are the errors that he is getting
File Writer.cpp, Line 335 Track Following error
File ThreadedTransfer.cpp, Line 227 all writers idle, stopping conversion
File ThreadedTransfer.cpp, Line 221, Conversion Idle Stopping Reader
Phase 38 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 232 Burn Process failed at 2x

Soyo KT600 Plus mobo
XP2600+
I/O Dual format DVD Burner
512mb DDR333

All help is welcome!

Try defragging the hdd. Seek time on a large hdd can cause problems on a fragmented hdd. This is a better and faster defragger than the windows utility. They have a 30 day free trial.

Hope this helps out, at least it will make your pc faster.

When you say I/O, are you refering to IO Magic? If so, that may be the problem. I've heard there are quality control problems on that drive. I think the article was in Maximum PC Magazine.

I would first try what whitebeard21 suggested. Hopefully that will solve the problem. Good luck!
