Kids Dial-up networking help

I need to creat a dial up network for 2 computers to share a internet connection.....I know its gonna be slow but thats ok...... Whats the cheapest/best way for me to go and what products will I need?

The 2 computers are fairly fair apart so a wireless network would be preferred

well for wireless you would need a pci card for each pc and a wireless router then run the network setup wizard on both pc's and on the one with the connection click share this connection and the one without the connection click connect over a network

for wired it will be alot cheaper as all you need will be a crossover cable

to start you've got this posted in the wrong forum but thats ok...

I've never heard of setting up the system quite like headband is suggesting but it would be much cheaper and easier to just use 1 NIC card in each compyter and use a crossover cable

however if you do use the router you'd only need one wirless card and one reg NIC as you'd be running the main computers NIC out to the routers input the running the secondary off the wirless....but I've never actually heard of this setup and I'm not sure it would work correctly...I don't really see why it wouldn't though

Both Computers have Ethernet cards. So do I just connect both ethernet cards together using an ethernet cable?

Thread moved.

You can just use a special cable known as a crossover cable (very important to get the right cable!). Its transmit and recieve wires are switched on one end, so you do not need a hub or switch. Just plug the crossover cable directly between the two computers.

Wireless can be nice in certain situations, but category 5 network cable is cheap, lightweight, and easy to route.

I set up a wireless network to share the dial up internet connection. I couldn't get the windows internet connection sharing to work so I used a proxy server program. It works good - as good as it can for sharing dial-up.
