capture video from my digicam

Apparantly I'm an idiot.

Cause for two hours I've been hopping all over these forums, newegg, Toms Hardware, etc. reading about the 9600xt, 9000 aiw, fx5900, the Compro VideoMate TV Gold Plus, etc.

And I still can't figure out what card(s) to purchase to simply import DIGITAL video from my camcorder, edit and then burn to DVD.

I assume I should have a 1394 port on the card, but none seem to have one built-in. I have a firewire port in the case I just ordered from xpcases.com (Diabolic Minotaur Extreme Gamer PC Case), but I have no idea how this will connect to my video card (or if it has to).

I'm not interested in capturing TV (or even watching TV) on my pc, and gaming isn't a real factor. Keeping the price relatively low is a factor (under $200 ok, around $100 GREAT!).

I belive all you will need is the proper software and the ability to connect you camcorder to your computer via fire wire or USB port, whichever your camcorder has. It won't need to be connected through your video card.

You can also use a ATI TV wonder capture card. About $40. THen just hook up like tv. Capture RIGHT TO DVD FORMAT> so no recompressing and all that techy/time consuming stuff. Heh. And just press rec. on pc tv app (comes with ATI TUNER) then play on cam-hooked to rca input then wait for movie to end. Finished except editing.
