hulkMAD is on a distinguished road
Mandrake only detects half my hdd!?

edit: im installing Mandrake 9.2 and it says i have only about 500 megabytes of hdd space when i really have 1.2 gigs. did it somehow format my hdd in the wrong format or something? i want the rest of my hdd! help...

1. what kind of hardware is this?

2. it may have to do with your BIOS settings if you are trying to install Linux on a very old system.

3. did you try deleting all the existing partitions and creating new ones?

Maybe you should use knoppix, it boots from a CD, and I don't think it has to install anything on the hard drive. That might be a good idea if space is an issue.

EDIT:
You might also want to use FDISK to remove the partitions, and recreate them. To run FDISK, boot from an MS-DOS bootable disk or CD (floppy disk: http://bootdisk.com/), (CD: http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/)
