Mobo frying mics?

Hi guys...

I've got a friend who does internet radio.. and obviously he uses a mic.

Recently he tells me that hes been having problems with his mic... saying that he'll be using it and then it will just fade out, kind of go really faint.. but u can hear him kinda thing u know? So he bought a new mic figuring he mustove blown his other one some how... So he's using this one its working all good... then it happens again .

Oh btw he's using a Cyber Acoustics AC 100R, Headset Microphone for VOICE, over internet applications CERTIFIED, for speech recognition. If that helps

So i was guessing something must be frying it or something.. (what else could it be?). But then he tells me he tried it on his borthers computer and it works great... any ideas... must be something setting his mic down? But where?

Thanks for the help

could be a problem in the microphone socket in the motherboard.. you know the socket is overused. imo.

More info needed:

1. Sound card make/model? Or is it onboard audio? If so, motherboard make/model?

2. OS

3. Check to see if sound card driver is current. Or if onboard audio, might need to reinstall its drivers too.
