Cannot open some word files over network

Hi, anyone have any experience of this.

Running Windows NT 4.0, trying to open some word 97 documents on a computer at a remote location (connected via WAN). Some of the word files will open, some will not. Have checked that this is not a word issue, or a permissions issue. Can open across network from a different pc across the network.

Only difference between Pcs is possibly NT Service Pack level, could this be the problem?

Any advice would be appreciated.

could it be a macros virus on the remote machine you are trying to access???
