DVI connector? how do i connect it?

Ok so I'm about to get the Radeon 9700 Pro to use with my LCD monitor. The video card comes with a VGA-DVI adapter thing, but how do I connect the monitor to the video card?? Don't I need a DVI CORD to connect them together? This 9700 Pro on newegg.com just says it comes with the adapter so what do I do?

If you're LCD has a DVI connector, then plug it into the DVI connector on the card. If it's a 15-pin VGA connector on the monitor cable, plug it into the adapter then plug the adapter into the 15-pin VGA connector.

well i think it has both? i dont know

i know it has the 15 pin VGA cord coming out of the monitor, but it also has a DVI slot, not a cord in the back...which means i would need some time of cable to connect the two slots! does this make any sense?

Yeah, you need a DVI cable.

well why wouldn't that come with the card?! and i can't find this cable on newegg! shouldn't they have some of those?

They dont ship it with the card. Only the adapter. You'll have to go to your local tech shop (BB, COMP USA) or whatnot and pick one up. Just a couple bucks.

on newegg.com for $16 but it's for DVI-D. Will that work for my Dell LCD monitor and my Radeon 9700 Pro?

Ok, from what I remember there are a 2 or 3 different DVI-things. I believe all will plug into your 9700, the only difference is the bandwith each offers. Like one cant handle anything over 1600x1200.
