Toshiba laptop screen blackout

I have a Toshiba 2805-S201 laptop. The screen is black went I boot up. I have hooked it up to and external monitor and I get a great display. If I tap lightly on the screen panel just above the keyboard below the screen panel, the sceen lights up fine. I suspected a bad/corroded connector so I disassembled it and unplugged the connectors, replugged and bebooted and same problem. I am now guessing a open in the harness???????? Any suggestions.

Is the laptop still under warranty? If so, take it in. If they see you opened it it would probably void the warranty. If the screen is bad it costs $1000 or possibly more, depending to get a replacement.

I don't know if this will still help you out but on my laptop (Sager NP5670) the EXACT same problem happened and all I did was take a paperclip and push the button in that makes the computer sleep when you shut the screen. It sounded stupid when I heard it to but it still works
