admin password

hi all....i just got my school laptop (mac) for the year.....

its great....g4 800mhz, 512 mb ddr ram, radeon 9200

blah blah blah

anyways thats all great but the school techies have locked down the whole system with administrator passwords (to the extent that through the school network , our computers, are their slaves - they can use them from a remote computer)

what suks about the locking down is that i cant run any new applications or games or anything. when i try and start any application it comes up with a box asking for the administrator password and username. same with internet explorer. the proxies are locked with the admin passwords so i cant even use the internet at home

basically my questin is - can anyone help me with hacking the admin password and username (if its possible) so i can actually install the copy of photoshop 7 which i payed over 600 for (student price)

i am running os x 10.3 (panther)

I would suggest you ask the "school techies" to install your software for you and/or remove the password. You'll get no help to circumvent somebody's security policy here.

sorry to double post but the fact is they wont let me install photoshop (or install it for me)and i need it for a subject....i asked them last year and they said i would still be able to use it...so i went ahead and bought it and now they've changed their policy so i cant use it!!!!! i bought this program for a subject this year and now im either going to have to by my own mac somehow or something else (because i cant return it)!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry to tripple post i just thought i should say that everyone in the school has their computers locked down as i do
and considering we lease them i think we should be able to use as we like

I can understand your problem, but that's something you'll have to bring up w/ them. It is against TechIMO.com's rules to offer assisstance in circumventing their security. I hope you can understand that.

Perhaps the "school techies" are being too restrictive. So I suggest going to the schoolPrinciple or similar and explaining your situation. If it sounds reasonable to him/her, they may have the software installed and even change the policy to better fit the needs.
