DVD Shrink and Nero 6 Ultra

Okay, I installed my new NEC 8X DVD burner, I have the newest version of DVd Shrink and Nero 6 Ultra.

I want to try my first burn. I guess I start with Shrink DVD and have it read the movie I want to back up. I'm assuming it encodes the files and then puts them to my hard drive. Correct?

Then I run Nero, and copy the files DVD Shrink created to a blank DVD. Can some one tell me if I'm on the right track here? What copy option in Nero do I use to dup a DVD? I appreciate any help.

Robert

You're on the right track! Will probably take two DVDs to burn each movie, but hey, better than nothin.

Have fun with the new burner! I just bought a 4x dvd on close-out for $74.

well you can use dvd shrink to compress the video and get rid of things like french audio that you dont need so that it is only one dvd.

then click encode and pick a folder to put it in. then open nero burning rom and open a video dvd project. highlight all of the files in that folder that you created and drag them into the video-ts folder in nero. the burn and enjoy...

If you only save the main title, you should be able to fit a 120min movie on one disk with no compression. I think it'd be better to use compression and fit everything on one disk if you must keep the menu.

Just my thoughts.

Hmmm, that sounds good, but does it really clear enough room to fit it all on one disk. My DVD Xcopy, says I'm like 2gigs over.

Two disks is cool. I want quality video and 5.1 sound more than anything else. I can do without the foreign language tracks. When I get things how I want them, will Nero automatically detect if more than one disk is needed and then do the split?

I really appreciate this guys. This is the cap on a major upgrade that started with my old P3 back in late August. Since then, I've replaced everything exept my 3.5 floppy Every step was done with advice from TechIMO and stuff from Newegg

well when does the new floppy come in?

but i do not know about the splitting as i always compress to fit on one. the "loss of quality" isnt noticable on any tv that i play it on.... maybe if i had a HDTV i might notice it or something..

Our own Phenious really has some great tips. I've also gleaned a lot of useful techniques regarding DVD Shrink from this site.

Happy burning!!

Those guides are really outdated now that DVD Shrink 3.1.2 is out.

If it says you are 2GB over, you're doing something wrong. Unless of course you are trying to keep the WHOLE disc at 0 compression.

You either have to compress, or get rid of crap like menus and french sound.
