Kids z680's problem

Hi
Ive had this logitech z680's for about 5 months now. The first set i got, i had to exchange because of a rattle inside the subwoofer, which i know is a some what common problem.

Now on my second set, when i have the volume up about half way on my computer, the bass at 50% on the computer and z680 control center, and the volume half way on the z680 control center, it seems during certain bass frequencts, the acctual subwoofer is hitting the metal grate that covers it, not an internal rattle like on the other set i had. My roommate has a set of Klipsch promedia GMX 5.1's + an Klipsch SWS sub, and we've pluged my computer into them and the Klipsch's don't have any problem playing the bass at the same volume level and louder.

Is there something wrong with my speakers? Anyone else have this problem before? It could just be that i have the volume up too high, but $400 (i paid $280) speakers should be able to be turned up louder than 50%.

Thanks

Brian

You should be able to turn the volume up all the way and have perfect clarity. Is it possible to remove the grate? or would that void your warrenty?

I think removing the grate does void the warrenty. I emailed logitech about it yesterday, but i haven't heard anything. The sub sounds fine at lower volumes but just when it gets louder, it starts to rattle against the grate.

I can't believe that would happen. There's plenty of space between the woofer and grate. Maybe your woofer is improperly mounted or your screen is damaged (pushed in). Don't e-mail Logitech, call them.

Actually i was looking at it closer, and it seems to be coming from the port instead of the grill. i stuck my hand in the port and pressed down on it and it went away. so i have no idea whats going on. I'll give logitech a call tomorrow probably.

Thanks for the help. I have one more question though. If logitech does decide to send me a new one, what do i have to send them? Will i actually have to cut the power cord off the sub?
