PCI Help,little insight please

Aright I was playing the Battlefield 1942 secret weapons of world war II expansion DEMO perfectly fine and thought the game was awesome.

SO...I bought the full version original Battlefield 1942 only to find out really really long load times and the game continually pauses when my Hard drive loads. This SEEMS so me like a RAM problem.
Im guessing full verion means bigger game, bigger executable, more ram needed or something.

I see that at all times with no background programs running I am using 124 of 256 ram, something like that. I used to have Integrated Onboard Intel graphics, I now use a ATI 9100 PCI. I was Wondering in my bios it says AGP aperture is set to 128..should this be set to this if I am using a PCI video card?
and what is AGP aperture?

Im trying to free up some ram cuz this game is almost unplayable until playing for tons of time where it then becomes fine, but by then usually the map changes.

If you are using a PCI video card any AGP bios settings no matter what they are will not do a thing for your video card.

The only thing I can think of is upgrade your card to a AGP video card.

Sorry for the bad news but a PCI video card does not cut it any more for high frame rate games anymore. Time to upgrade.

A ATI 9600 card will do you good.

Well thanks,
I know I know but thing is all I have is a PCI and I can tell I will have struggles with newer games but Battfield 1942 plays with perfect FPS just has constant pauses and stutters until I play for about 15 minutes where it then cools down and I am good to go.

If I dont need that AGP aperture, will turning it off help at all?

Update your bf1942. It's pretty buggy straight out of the box.

That seems to be common. For me, the first minute is always glitchy cuz even though the game is going it still has a lot going on in the background. But definately update to 1.6 when you get the chance.
