Need Linux wireless utility for Netgear WG511

I'd like to put Linux back on yet again but I won't do it unless I can use my wireless card. I didn't pay $130 for nothing (card and router). Is there a program, and instructions on how to install it, for Linux (probably will be Mandrake) that will allow me to browse and connect to AP's and routers? I'd also like to be able to access Windows shares (Samba anyone) but I don't have to.

Thanks for both those links. Two things:

I own a Netgear WGR614 router, so I can connect to that legally.
I live by two coffee/book shops with free wireless internet, so I can connect to that legally. I only went wardriving once just for fun, but didn't do anything stupid. I'm aware of the law and where the (fine) line is, and I don't cross it unless....... (smiles)

Edit - I assume my card has a Prism chip inside???

Yeah the WG511 is a B/G card with the sucky (read: not my first choice) one-peice design, ala no add-on antennas or even a movable rod. Just a thing sticking out the side.
