pci mass storage device

I have an old pentiun 1 running at 200MHZ use to have a 1 gig hard drive in it but i installed a 40 gig seagate hard drive used an ata 100 controller card to get it to work did get it to load windows 98 but im having problems with my PCI mass storage device it seems that dont have a driver or its not loading right and also my pnp sound chip cant find drivers dont know motherboard. Thanks for any help

Have you checked the manufacturers website of the controller card for drivers?

It kind of surpries me you would need drives even with windows 98, but might be worth a look

well thats what i thought too but guess im not telling it to look in the right place to find them did not know if by adding the ata controller card if it throws everything off or i need to turn something on or off in bios

also was supplied driver floppy for ata card but cant get it to load

what kind of file is on the floppy?

is it an .inf file or .exe file or what?

can you just get the driver off the web?

If it is a new controller card then its not strange that it wouldnt already be in 98

Guess i had a brain fade finally got the drivers to load had to do it manually and go thru have disk and browse and find the one i wanted for windows 98 thanks for the help. Guess got use to this windows xp i running in this one . Now just got to find my PNP sound chip drivers cant remember where those are. Thanks again for help

you can find the motherboard model either by looking at the baord for numbers etc or by looking at the "bios string" which is the longgggg list of numbers shown usually on the bottom of the screen while booting...

like....1000-0011.815e-1-24

or some weird number like that. Then you google that number or post it up here and usually someone can find the motherboard model/make/drivers.

ok heres the # 51-0201-001437-00111111-071595-M1531/43-001-01 rev 4.1A I ran american bios checker and it said it was a board made by Msing Tech Enterprises CO. LTD any help on this would be appreciated

Its an "acer" motherboard........whats the kind of comp?

Its an acer right? what model etc??

oopps type o sorry John was suppose to be Hsing Tech Enterprise CO. LTD which i believe maybe a pc-chips board just like Elite Group or ECS is also pc chips after i posted i began to look and that is what i found anyway so far model # of motherboard is 1437. As far as model of cpu its a throw together little of this and alittle of that kinda a home made thing. Thanks again John for help.
