Storing data on a DVD-RW

Fellow Members:

I have a question about storing data files on DVDs, or more accurately DVD-RW's.

I have a client database that I must back up each evening. It equals approximately 150MB. My question is simply this: does it make more sense to format a DVD-RW with a Direct CD program (for example, Roxio) then Select & Copy & Paste my nightly data onto my media, or is it more prudent to simply select the couple hundred files I wish to archive and burn them on to a non-formatted DVD-RW?

Put differently: does it make more sense to work with a formatted DVD-RW?

I appreciate your opinions.

Thanks!

Brangwen

with xp it a a direct cd type of thing built in but if you have another os i would definately just use that instead of burning each time

also why not just use a cd if its that small

You could just try using windows backup utility which would overwrite the data on your DVD-RW

I would suggest having two disks and alternating them, then if there is a problem when over writing the dsk it not a complete disaster

Even easier is a 256Mb USB pen faster, safer and more reliable that writing disks
