CarTalk.com dumps RealPlayer

Click and Clack, aka, the CarTalk guys, are dumping RealPlayer for Windows Media Player.

Quote:
Here's the problem. In order to hear our audio, you have to go to Real.com and download their "free" RealPlayer. But when you get to the web site, the free player is harder to find than Osama Bin Laden at night. And the site seems to do everything it possibly can to get you to "buy" a player instead. You have to work very hard to get the free player. And we think that stinks.
Here, here!! You gotta love those guys.

Yay! And for those boycotting WMP9, go get Media Player Classic (modified 6.4):

Many don't like it becuse it contails alot of DRM (digital rights managment). Translation: It means that it won't let you copy DVDs, CDs, and such unless it can only play on one computer, and with restrictions still. Don't know of a link to this, but www.eff.org has info on DRM and probably on this too.

I'd still prefer listening to radio via Winamp, but you can't get stuff like BBC and others on Winamp (I think). Besides, it's not too hard to get the free version of RealPlayer imo. A few clicks and I'm there.

never was a fan of realplayer...damn program always wants to run as a startup in the tray. i hate programs that insist on doing that.

and they're right...finding the free version on the site is a bit hard. used to be REAL hard...a little easier now, but still not easy. the last thing i hate is that you have to register the program. no even dumb m$ asks for that for their media player.

realplayer...more trouble than it's worth if you ask me.

No doubt about it - RealPlayer blows chunks.

If you have some media stuck in that format though and are interested in watching it you can head here:

WMP9 has DRM but it can be disabled. who uses it to copy dvds and cds anyway? there are much better programs.
