Friend got DSL

My friend just got DSL, on the phone he told me he has the phone cord going into a box, then a wire from that going into his computer. I'm guessing its a CAT-5 cable..
He wants to also hook up his XBOX, with the DSL. What is the cheapest route to do this. And what should he get. He prefers from www.bestbuy.com
Please Help

He is going to need a router to share the connection with the computer. You can then connect the X-Box to a port on the router to get access and having a router is a good thing IMO when connected via Broadband. I think the X-Box may have an NIC card to hard wire connect to the router but needs an add on to connect wirelessly.

yeah, the phone cord goes to the dsl modem then there is cat5 cable from the dsl modem to his computer..he needs to get a cheap little home router (linksys befsr41 or similar)...he would then go from the dsl modem to the router and then its cat5 from the router to the comp and from another of the routers ports to the xbox

routers are used so much now that walmart has em.

of course if the xbox will be in a different room he may want a wireless router and that wireless adapter for the xbox that toddly mentioned.
