works[sorta] on one, but not on the other; black screen and corrupt missing file

Hello,

Athalon XP 2600+
2 generic 512 RAM
2 WD 60 GB harddrives
Nvidia ti 4600
msi k7n2 delta
generic cdrom and cdburner

unplugged monitor, moved the computer a bit, next time i boot up i get to the xp logon, then i select shutdown from there. move computer to its normal spot, re hook stuff up. i then got just passed bios screen, and got the corrupt missing file, the system32/config/system one. so i restart it, then i get no picture at all.

tried another vid card
tried another psu
tried using only 1 stick of ram in diff slots too
unhooked all unnecessary stuff
get no beebs
no picture whatsoever
mobo is seated properly
vid card and ram also seated properly
hdd spin
tried clearing cmos, yes it is back to normal position

so i hook up the hd to my parents computer, get to the same corrupt missing page, [at least its better then no screen at all!] install xp over itself, then try the hdd in my computer, still same black screen. so it runs on my parents computer which uses a pentium 4 but not on my athalon xp. i kno that the 2 diff processors can probably confuze the os, but i have no other choice.

have you done any sort of overclocking what-so-ever. If you did then the harddrive can become currupt with certain files.

If that isn't then case then i would suggest booting from your operating cd and selecting to repair. That should reinstall the system dll file that seems to be missing or currupt.

no ocing here.

i reinstalled xp over itself, but i only get something on the screen on my parents computer. nothing on mine. im guessing that the mobo is fried, so sad...
