gateway astro all in one problem

I am currently working on a clients system it is a gateway astro 1.2 (they call it an all in one ) It is a monitor attached to an enclosed motherboard. Ive never worked on a system like this. The problem is that I can detach the monitor with the power cord plugged in and the monitor works, but when I connect it to the bottom I get no power at all no led lights no fan or anything. The only part that connects the monitor to the mother board is what appears to be an adapter card that inserts into the monitor when you drop the monitor onto the motherboard. There is no power supply connected to the mother board and all power buttons and drives connect to the adapter card, or to what looks like the power supply to the motherboard. Any suggestions?
