Mandrake 10, Beta 1

Not sure if this has been posted yet, I didn't see it on the first page, but Mandrake 10, Beta 1 is on Mandrake's bittorrent index. I'm downloading it right now at about 70KB/sec.

Of course I'm also downloading the ISOs for 9.2F so it might be a bit faster if you're just getting 10.

Just a heads up.

looks promising kernel 2.6.1 but I'll wait for next release of the beta... well after it supports usb (mouse&keyboard)....

Why do software makers jump versions so fast? Why not be 9.3? or 9.2.1? A date version system would even be better 2.2004, but what do i know.

Minor numbers indicate compatibility. Because moving from kernel 2.4.x to 2.6.1 will definately "break" a lot of things, they're changing the major version.

Hah, ya. I can't get it to install. The first time it said the kernal wasn't initialized correctly, I think. The second time, as soon as it tried to boot it gave me the 99s of death. Gonna have to drop back to 9.2 I guess.

Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.

I get that consistently from this install.
