How to set up IDE drives?

I'm getting a dvd burner and would like to know how I should have my drives set up. I currently have a burner, cd-rom, and a HDD. I have the burner set as master and the cd-rom as slave on one IDE cable. Then i have the HDD set as master on IDE1. Where would you reccommend placing the dvd burner?

Thanks all in advance.

Id put the hdd as primary master, DVD burner as secondary master, cd-rom as secondonary slave. If you already have a cd-rw I would probably either get rid of it or replace your cd-rom. Normally not a great idea to have other drives on the same IDE channel as your hard drive simply for performance reasons

Ditch the CD-Rom...you don't need it any more. (unless your CD-RW is old and your DVD-RW can burn CD's quickly enough for you)

HD on IDE1 master
DVD-RW on IDE2 master
CD-RW (or CD-Rom) on IDE2 slave

Agreed...don't put optical drives as slaves to HD's.

I only use the cd-rom for playing games. I thought about ditching the cd-rom and using a virtual drive, but wanted to hear what your opinions were.

Virtual drives are great =)
I converted my entire game catelog into images using alcohol 120%, and I have the ISOs on their own hard drive. Takes up alot of disk space but its worth it now to have to switch and wear out cds all the time
