RAM upgrade?

Hi All,


A friend has recently started using a Mac and so has said that any parts of his old PC I can have.

My motherboard is a V266B, in which I have 2 sticks 0f 256MB 2600 DDR RAM. I have looked at the RAM in my mate's Pc and it is SD RAM. Can I use the two different types in the same system?

nope.. the architecture of the DDR stick is different from SDRAM stick.. DDR stick wont fit in the SDR slot... and vice versa.

If the old PC is working,keep it for a spare.

You cant use that SD Ram in that board....some boards support both types, but you cant mix and match.

What are the specs of your computer and the other one, it sounds like yours might be better if it is using ddr.

My spec is Athlon 1400XP v266b motherboard, VIA chipset, 512Mb ddr ram, 80GB 7200rpm Barracuda HD.

Not sure on the spec of the other PC, know it has a pentium 4 processor in it.
