Didn't expect this!

I've been running an XP 1700+ @ 1812Mhz in a VIA Kt133a board for quite awhile. I finally got around to upgrading my MOBO to an Nforce2 ultra 400 (MSI- K7N2 delta), and that same processor now runs at 2400Mhz!!! Heat is not an issue, but I can't tell if it will do anymore because I'm maxed out on the settings at 200x12.
I knew I was going to be able to get more out of it, but I didn't expect this much. Talk about bang for the buck!

What type of adjustments can be made on that board?
Increments of FSB? Is it just 133, 166, 200 or does it have lots of choices?
Is 12.5 the max multiplier?

It can go from 133 to 200FSB in increments of 1. And 12.5 is the max multiplier for my particular processor, if I go over 12.5 it underclocks it.

one good thing about NFORCE2 chipsets is that it has a PCI/AGP frequency lock. it means you can lock the PCI and AGP frequencies at 33 and 66 even if your FSB is raised higher that specs... PCI frequencies greater than 33mhz causes the system to crash and NFORCE is the answer to that. and that's the beauty of it. on the other hand, VIA chipsets has the PCI divider feature. it changes the pci divider from 4 to 5 when the FSB is raised to 166mhz from 133mhz, making the pci frequency go back to 33 mhz. Nforce mobo is really an overclockers' delight!

P.s. darrelld, i think your processor is one of those legendary Thoroughbred-B Athlon XP.

I think generally the max for the T-Bred B cores was around 2400MHz with air cooling. I say generally as some were able to OC a little more, some a little less. Yours is very nearly maxed out but what an increase! From 1470MHz to 2400MHz. Nearly a free GHz of speed.

Wait?

do you mean 2400mhz or "running at xp2400 speed"??

2400mhz is 2.4g

xp2400 speed=2g

Just curious...

What voltage are you running it at? Mine seems to top at around 2.12ghz with 1.7v
However, my multipliers work 13x and beyond. (currently have it at 169*12.5

John,
Thats 2.4gig, 200x12
nukes,
The voltage is at 1.775, when I move the multiplier to 13 it posts at 8xxMhz.
