USB Hard

i have an idea and i hope it's posible, i want to make a Mobile Rack for my Hard Disk ( WD 30 G ) but i want to connect it with my computer through the USB port. is it possible to convert the IDE cable to USB.

how can i desgin such a rack or a connection

You could Mod the cast to run a 36" rounded IDE out of the back, buy a power splitter (x-tra long), and build your rack. (that way you loose no speed)


Not sure why you want to do this, but that would be my solution, rather than any sort of USB.

Do you mean.... you want to connnect that HD with USB? You will need a hard drive enclosure.

Look for the 3.25 or larger enclosures. the 2.5in are for laptop hardrives...

I kinda doubt it, I have a feeling that it may have a electronic circut involved in that connector hood incloser. there has to be some kins of converter involved
