Kids DLP Projectors ? ?

with prices of Monitor Projectors hitting < $1,000, soon it will be cheaper o get a Projector for less than an LCD large Monitor -- especially on a mm squared basis.

but I noticed that "DLP" projectors with Tech by TI continue to run hi, like <$3,000.

What is DLP technology, and why is it so expensive /

Anybody else changed their mind about 18" + LCD for a lo-end Projector that also play TV ?

Is DLP worth waiting for to drop ? Is that likely, giventhe size of the gap$ ?

DOOOOOOOOOG

DLP

"Short for Digital Light Processing, a new technology developed by Texas Instruments used for projecting images from a monitor onto a large screen for presentations. Prior to the development of DLP, most computer projection systems were based on LCD technology which tends to produce faded and blurry images. DLP uses tiny mirrors housed on a special kind of microchip called a Digital Micromirror Device (DMD). The result is sharp images that can be clearly seen even in a normally lit room."

Basically it uses millions of mirrors that are smaller then a fly's leg hairs to bend light making images and colors. (instead of colored pixels and transistors bending light like lcd.)It also uses a COLOR WHEEL. Very high end. Best projectors out there. A lcd projector is more of a budget unit. Like you are aiming for.
