Backlight replacement on LCD Monitor ??

Anyone replaced the backlight ?


Where do you get parts ?


It's a Dell E15 something 15" LCD

maybe someone has a "parts" monitor on ebay? Too bad there aren't "computer parts junkyards" closest thing is a Dumpster behind a store. have you tried calling dell to find out how much the part is?

Thanks, however I'd hoped for some "shadetree" method of fixing it, or at last resort using new Dell parts.
I'm no big fan of e-bay

I've posted my problem at the Dell Community Forum perhaps one of the Dell Technicial support folks will assist.

Find out who actually makes the monitor.
Dell doesn't make these things, they only re-badge them with their name.
A back-light should be a normal replacement part that you should be able to order from the actual manufacturer.

You need a part called a CFT bulb. Its a compact flourscent and usually a large L shape. Be carefull taking films out not to finger print them. The polariser's are VERY sensitive. Use some latex gloves when digging in there.
