IN NEED OF HELP!

My CD-ROM isn't working. My copmputer doesn't even reconize it. I went to the Device Manager, and it's not even listed in there. I don't know what to do.

Make sure your CDROM drive is set to Slave or Master epending on where it is plugged in.

If you plugged it in at the END of the IDE cable, it is the master. If you plugged it in the Middle connector on the cable, it is the slave.

There is a jumper on the drive you can change, if it is the master, change the jumper to the RIGHT setting. The left is Cable Select, and middle is Slave. That is what most jumpers are, yours might be different, there should be a marking that tells you which is which.

Ok, it's plugged in as the master....I'm unsure what a jumper is though.....

Try replacing the cable or sticking it as a slave on your working primary cable if its on your secondary ide---did it just "happen" or have you been inside the case swapping/adding things about?

No need to mess with jumpers etc then if it was working before---id suspect the cable first---then the drive---reseat the connections to the drive for kicks...
